Using the MS Authentication App (Required for using the Edison State systems)
Edison State Information Technology (IT) security policy requires all students, staff, and faculty to use the Microsoft Authentication application (available on Google Play / Apple Store). Please use the attached document for details to setup the MS Authentication app and access the Edison State IT systems.
New user – first time setup?
If you are a new user, you will need to perform the following steps (one time activity) before you can login to the Edison email account.
Step 1: Go to Google Play or Apple Store, and download the “MS Authenticator” app.
Start downloading the app on your phone. You will be prompted to read instructions on the next screen. Click “Next”
If you are using your Smartphone:
Step 2: On the page you are trying to log onto, select the ‘pair’ option. This will open the Microsoft Authenticator app and pair your username with the authenticator.
Step 3: To pair the device, you will need to switch between the page you are trying to log onto, and the Microsoft Authenticator. It will send a notification to your phone to approve the sign in and enter a number for verification.
Using your PC + Smartphone:
Step 2: On the next screen, you will be asked to open the newly installed MS Authenticator app and scan the QR Code (this is important to note that the QR code can only be scanned once you have installed the MS Authenticator app.)
Step 3: Follow instructions on the next few screens on your phone to approve the app setup
Step 4: Once you complete the first three steps, you can access the Edison State email account. Go to our website https://www.edisonohio.edu
Look for “Office 365” under Current Students or Faculty & Staff menu. Once you click on the Office 365 link, it will take you to the Microsoft Office login page.
Click on the “Sign In” button and enter the email address
Step 5: For typing in your email address, you will need the username sent to you via email by Edison State HR department. Once you have the username from the email, you can go ahead and type the email address as username followed by edisonohio.edu.
Frequently Asked Questions:
1. Can I skip the installation of the Authentication app?
Users may be able to skip up to three times. Once they have used their third skip, they will have to install the Microsoft Authenticator app. Please note that the installation of the Microsoft Authenticator app is mandatory for getting your Edison State email account.
2. I am unable to scan the QR code to get the app
The QR code is to be used only once the Microsoft Authenticator app is installed from the Google play store or the Apple store.
If the QR code does not work once the Microsoft Authenticator app is installed, please reach out to the IT Helpdesk for help.
