How to: Reset your password
Default Password
Once your network account is created and you have determined your user ID, you are assigned a default password.
The default password is composed of the following elements:
Password: An 8-character password composed as follows:
- First 4 characters: Last 4 digits of your employee ID.
- Next 2 characters: First letter of your first name (capitalized) and first letter of your last name (capitalized).
- Last 2 characters: ! and @.
Example:
Name: Larry Smith
Employee ID: 1234567
Default Password: 4567LS!@
Resetting Your Password
To reset your Edison State, visit office.com and type in your Edison email and click on the "Forgot my Password" link.
Follow the prompts to reset your password.
To Change your Password

Ensure the new password meets these requirements:
- Minimum 8 characters.
- Different from your previous 7 passwords.
- Not contain the user's account name or parts of the user's full name that exceed two consecutive characters

Includes at least 3 of the following:
- Uppercase letter (A through Z)
- Lowercase letter (a through z)
- Number (0 through 9)
- Special character (e.g., !, $, #, %)
Recommendations:
- Use a unique password for your Edison account, distinct from personal accounts.
- Avoid writing down passwords.
- Contact the IT Helpdesk for assistance if needed.
