3rd Party/ LTI Integrations into Blackboard
LTI's integrate learning applications used by instructors into their courses. Below you will find the procedure for requesting 3rd Part/LTI integrations into Blackboard. Each 3rd Party tool will function differently within Blackboard, because of this, the instructor must provide support for their students.
Edison State Community College Third-Party Tool (LTI) Procedure
In effort to maintain a secure and optimal performance of ESCC’s Blackboard LMS as well as ensure all third-party tool requests are completed in a consistent and timely fashion, the following process has been developed.
- Requester (faculty or academic staff member) completes the request form and sends to IT staff via support@edisonohio.edu.
- The request form is received by the Blackboard Admin for review. The Blackboard Admin will contact the vendor and/or the requester if there is a need for more information.
- Blackboard Admin will perform technical testing on LMS test environment in order to confirm the tool is working and not causing any performance issues.
- A decision about the tool is made by the Blackboard Admin and IT staff and the requester will be notified.
- If approved: The tool will be integrated into the Production environment of the LMS.
- If rejected: The rational is documented and communicated back to the requester.
- Potential reasons for rejection:
- Significant Costs involved or no funding decision was agreed upon
- Significant downtime is involved
- Significant data security issue
- Significant impact on LMS performance
- Timeline:
- Tools that are approved and do not require down time will be installed to the LMS within 2 weeks from the final approval.
