Get Office 365 on a Chromebook

You can access your Microsoft 365 apps from the web — including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, OneDrive, and Outlook.

The web apps allow you to:

  • Create, edit, and collaborate on documents and files. 

  • Send and receive emails. 

  • Maintain an online calendar.

Note: You cannot install the Windows or Mac desktop versions of Microsoft 365 or Office 2016 on a Chromebook. 

How to run Office apps on a Chromebook

To access Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and OneDrive, do the following: 

  1. Open the browser on your Chromebook and go to www.office.com

  2. Sign in with your Edison State credentials. 

  3. You will see all of the apps on the left menu and can utilize all the apps and functions available on the web version of the each app.

Note: You can view files and do basic editing in Office.com. Not all functions are available in the online version of Office 365 apps. 

How to run Outlook on a Chromebook

Do the following: 

  1. Open the browser on your Chromebook and then go to www.outlook.com.

  2. Sign in with your Edison credentials. 

  3. You can utilize all functions available for Outlook on the web.
